If I could rate it 0, I would. I would honestly avoid this place at all costs!!. I went there today and I got the carbonara with extra chicken. The pasta was overcooked like crazy and the grilled chicken was not grilled it was, in fact, boiled despite them saying grilled on the menu. The first question I was asked was, "Would I like water for the table and I said, of course," but we never got this. I saw this place on tiktok, but it didn't live up to what hype, I even spoke to the manager and all she said was OK despite me showing her that using a knife you can't cut the chicken because it has been over cooked and boiled

I booked in advance for an early pre-theatre meal and gave my credit card details against cancellation. This is a very reasonable request to protect against the appalling frequency of no-shows. The booking was for 6pm, and owing to illness I cancelled at 9.15 the previous evening. They still "fined" me £15 a head. Needless to say, they will never see me!
UPDATE:
After the response from the management (below) they are refunding me the money because of a misunderstanding. Dealing well with any issue raised is a sign of a good business.
I have increased the star rating from 1 to 4. I still haven't eaten there, but now I very well might when I am in the city!

Pre booked as a 40th birthday for 4 people. Table not ready on time. Offered a complementary focaccia but given 3 tiny pieces for 4 of us. Took >45 mins to get food. Starter didn’t come out before mains. Main cold. Food totally ordinary. Not worth the price. Service slow. Waiting staff polite and seemed apologetic but very poorly responsive. Not offered more drinks or pudding after we’d finished our
Mains for over 20 mins. Would not recommend. Would not go again.

Unfortunately this is no longer the lovely restaurant of yesteryear. The place lacks any ambience whatsoever and the food was average at best. Out of our party of 5 only two ordered starters and one was wrong. One main dish was small and burnt and another was too spicy to eat. I think this restaurant is living on their past reputation and need to improve substantially to survive.

We visited Giovanni’s this evening and did not have a great experience at all. The waitress who served us was lovely . However we ordered one alcoholic Hugo spritz and one non alcoholic when one of the other waitresses brought it over she mixed them up , giving the alcoholic one to a pregnant lady. We only realised after we’d drunk some of it. Food then took a really long time to arrive and when it did we were brought the wrong dishes - they rectified this fairly quickly , however when I started eating the meal there was a hair in the food which was extremely off putting. They took this meal off the bill however still kept the 12.5% service charge which was not good given that every other worker apart from one nice girl with glasses made us feel uncomfortable after we brought up our concerns.

Treated ourselves to a classy evening meal at Giovanni’s for Valentine’s Day. The service was fantastic, as was the atmosphere. The food however was disappointing. Small portions, lukewarm food and a hefty bill. We left still feeling hungry and spent over £100. I could not recommend this restaurant to anyone who loves Italian food because it was really missing the heartiness you expect when eating Italian cuisine.

Despite booking a table we had to stand by the bar and wait 15 minutes for our table to be ready. The lady greeting was rude and not apologetic for the wait. Every half an hour when more guests arrived they again congregated stood in the bar area. The staff were poorly organised but the food was good. We wouldn’t rush back

We visited the property as we were going to the theatre and chose a pre meal. On our booking it stated we had the table for 1 1/2 hrs which suited us fine.We sat down at 17 15 ,however slow service meant we didn't finish till 19 10 and with the show starting at 19 30, left us hurrying .The food was good but we had a return for warmth of a main course and a lengthy delay of a sweet course. Nice restaurant atmosphere but recently renovated and some items inside are still a work in progress.

When it was Don Giovanni, I enjoyed coming here and was a regular. However, they have recently changed it to Giovanni and the menu has changed. I ordered a steak and the presentation was poor, empty and bland. The guy who served me, a big gentleman of color, lacked good customer service skills. The vegetables on the steak were falling apart off the plate as he was sitting the steak on my table. I then politely requested to speak with the manager about the presentation of the food and refused to eat the steak. He agreed with me and said he would take it on board. I ordered the Salmon instead. I was told that the manager offered a compensation on the bill but in reality there was no compensation. They compensated for the returned steak, which I never had but all in all, I didn’t have a good experience and I am not returning there anymore. I won’t recommend.

My husband and I had our anniversary dinner at Giovanni's and we had a blast! The food was absolutely amazing and we were so pleased they have halal options, and all staff were very friendly and made us feel very welcome from the moment we stepped in. The service was top notch! They even gave us a card for our anniversary and two mint mocktails on the house 🥳
A big thank you to everyone at Giovanni's for truly making our day! We'll definitely come again!🌟

Great Food. Attentive service.
Came for Breakfast and everything was cooked to perfection especially the poached eggs.
I have since been back for both lunch and dinner. Both times I/we were served by Roxana who was very attentive.
She explained to the chef my dietary requirements and he adjusted the dishes accordingly. I'm inclined to return just because of the great Service we received.
The steak I had for lunch and the sea bass for dinner were cooked to perfection and well presented.
The atmosphere was great. The look of the revamped restaurant is great.
The prices are not cheap but this is a fine dining restaurant and the food is freshly cooked.
When I do go out for a nice meal I like to go somewhere that looks good with a good atmosphere, great Service and perfectly cooked food with friendly and helpful staff, which is why I will be returning to Giovannis!

Very disappointed by their mushroom risotto. I wouldn’t recommend it to anybody. Been to Italy plenty of times and that is not risotto. Service has much to desire, we still got charged for something we didn’t eat and asked to be taken away. Good thing is their tiramisu it’s really good!

my fiancé and i came here for our engagement meal and i’m so glad we didn’t go anywhere else. halal options. food was great, we recommend the ragatoni and tiramisu. service was great, atmosphere too. we had an enjoyable lunch. roxana, our host was EXCEPTIONAL. she went above and beyond for us, so down to earth. big shout out to you roxana! she made our experience at giovanni’s a definite five stars. we’ll be back!
